Gettin' Ready for Cinco de Mayo!

It's spring break, so I'm getting ahead on my holidays!  I'm really excited about my second original book for my TPT store.  If You Give a Chihuahua a Taco is an original Cinco de Mayo story following the "If You Give a ____ a ____" familiar format!  Included with the book are 16 picture cards to be used for retelling or sequencing.  In addition, the cards can be used to target listening comprehension and expressive language.  To practice listening comprehension, lay the cards out and play a describing game by describing a picture and having students guess which one you’re describing.  Target expressive language by drawing a card and using the Expanding Expression Tool to have students name the group (or category), function, description, composition (what it’s made from), parts, where it’s found/seen, and prior knowledge.

Bring the Bling!

These days, hearing aids and cochlear implants are not just functional….they can be downright fashionable!  CI and hearing aid users can really express themselves by “blinging” their equipment.

Hearing aids now have lots of options for earmolds . They can be swirls of
multiple colors and have glitter.

Some companies even offer varieties in the aid, themselves, with colors, animal prints or transparent aids.

For the little ones who need those pilot caps to keep their aids or CI on, Etsy has a lot of cute pilot caps and Hearing Halo Headbands.  Now, I’m not sure if, or how much, the caps reduce the integrity of the signal, but I’m sure you could find out!

For both hearing aids and CIs, thebebopshop on Etsy offers some really cute retention cords.
